Gathering the scores at such an event as the ISDS World Sheep Dog Trials
This is a major undertaking but was well organized under the
authority of the ISDS. There were a total of 10 judges covering the 4 days of
the World Trial and all of this information, scores, etc., has to be collected
and sorted out.
The ISDS was also responsible for the gathering of all the data for the runs
(at the World Sheep Dog trial), from the 3 different qualifying fields, and the
Semi Finals and Finals events, and sorting through it, checking it out and posting
it for everyone to see. They were also responsible for putting the information and
a short write up of the day’s competitions up on their web site. They were helped
in this latter work by Peter Hall and Stacey Scott. Peter and Stacey also took
many of the photos for the ISDS. It was a major job gathering and checking through
all of this information. Peter and Stacey took lots and lots of photos during these
4 days of trials and so each evening they all had to be sorted through and then a
decision had to be made as to which ones should go up and which handlers should
be represented in these photos. They also had to be cropped, enhanced, some color
changing if necessary and then sent up into space. There were many evenings when
they worked through until midnight so that the folk in other parts of the world
could get their information as to the happenings at these sheep dog trials.
